Nitrogen generator used in food packaging plant

On Site Gas Systems recently installed another of their Nitrogen generators into the food packaging area.

Da Vinci Fine Foods manufacture and package a variety fresh pastas that are available through Australia on various supermarket shelves.

Da Vinci Foods called for a mix of food grade Nitrogen and CO2, blended for the purpose of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP).  On Site Gas Systems application engineers designed a system that would enable Da Vinci to generate their own N2, mix this with CO2 from their current gas company allowing them to save on costs while introducing a level of convenience and time saving not before seen by the customer.

On Site Gas Systems supplied one of their class leading nitrogen generators along with a N2/CO2 gas blender manufactured by WittGas.  Da Vinci  now produces nitrogen gas onsite then automatically mixes this with CO2 from a dewar that is supplied by the gas company.  This all happens automatically with no intervention by Da Vinci staff. 

Before On Site Gas Systems got involved, the customer was paying a high price for mixed gas and was constantly having to halt production to change gas bottles resulting in lost production time.  However since installation, nitrogen is no longer an issue and the CO2 is replenished automatically by the gas company.

The customer confirmed once the unit was installed and running that this process was definitely going to save them substantial money on their gas supplies and as a result they are now very happy with the system.
